July 5 - 9, 2006
DAY 1 As we head east this morning we’ll stop for our
morning included break in Western Wisconsin. Our travels today will take us
across Wisconsin and through Chicago to our 2-night stay in South Bend, Indiana.
This evening after time to refresh we’ll enjoy our included Welcome Dinner.

DAY 2 Following
our included breakfast, we’ll head out for our full day
“Amish of Indiana” tour starting with time in Shipshewana to shop and
explore the largest Flea Market in the Midwest. We’ll then stop in Middlebury
at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus for included lunch in the Amish Country Kitchen.
This afternoon we’ll arrive in Nappanee for our guided tour of Amish Acres,
including their historic Amish Farmstead. You’ll have time to visit the shops
prior to returning to our hotel. The evening will be free to relax and have
dinner on your own.

DAY 3 As
our luggage is loaded on the coach, we’ll enjoy our included breakfast. We’ll then head south and west to Rockville and the
Covered Bridges of Indiana. We’ll stop for lunch (on your own) then we’ll visit
the home of famed WWII correspondent, Ernie Pyle, where a highlight of our visit
will be a film-animated life-size Ernie Pyle reading one of his most famous
newspaper columns about our “Boys Over There.” Next we’re off to Billie
Creek Village, a re-created turn-of-the-century village that features craft
demonstrations, 30 historic buildings and 3 authentic covered bridges. We’ll
also enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride around the village. Later we’ll check
into our hotel for the night, and after time to refresh we’ll head out for our
visit to beautiful Cataract Falls, Indiana’s largest waterfall. Then we’ll
enjoy a real highlight, as we have an included gourmet dinner by candlelight
inside a covered bridge spanning a gentle waterfall.

DAY 4 After
our included breakfast we’ll stop to visit an 1823
operating Grist Mill, nestled beside a 245-foot long covered bridge (a wonderful
photo stop!). Then we’re off to the Amish Country of Illinois, where our first
stop will be at Rockome Gardens, a beautiful flower and ornamental garden.
You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the gardens, the included buggy ride,
train ride and an Amish home, then you’ll have time for lunch (on your own) prior
to our guided Amish countryside tour. We’ll then visit the towns of Arthur and
Arcola for time to browse the Amish shops and visit the Amish General Store. Our
hotel for the night is in the Chicago area, and after time to refresh we’ll enjoy our
included farewell dinner.
